MASS SPECTROMETRY OF NANOSTRUCTURED SYSTEMS

Chuiko Institute of Surface Chemistry, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Specific technical and scientific problems of mass spectrometry are discussed appeared and are being solved in the course of studies on nanostructured systems. From this point of view, a brief analysis is presented of progress trends in methods and applications of mass spectrometry in the world and in Ukraine. Most impressive results in this area published during last decades are discussed. A brief survey is presented of the results obtained by Ukrainian researchers actively using various kinds of mass spectrometry for solution of the problems on surface chemistry, catalysis, supramolecular chemistry, biology, and environment protection.

Special attention is drawn to temperature-programmed desorption and laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry of silicon-based nanomaterials.
